OUTREACH

Claire Bissell, Coordinator; 798-1887, ext. 116 or cbissell@seasshreveport.com

***Meals on Wheels delivery drivers needed: Thanks to our Meals on Wheels volunteers, 13 seniors receive a hot meal and a friendly hello every Monday through Thursday morning. If you are interested in serving as a substitute delivery driver, call Claire Bissell. You can serve one or two days per month. The route takes less than an hour, and then you are on your way, secure in the knowledge that you have nourished the bodies and spirits of “the least among us.”

HOPE Connections Supplies Needed:

The HOPE Connections drop-in center depends on donations from the community to supply many of the items used by their clients.  They have asked St. Elizabeth Ann Seton to provide donations of travel size toothpaste and large bottles of body wash. If you would like to help, please bring these items to Claire Bissell’s office and we will deliver them to HOPE House.

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Supports Our Troops:

Reminder to all vacationing families to pick up all those little soaps, shampoos, lotions in the hotel rooms for donation to the troops.  These come in REAL handy in making up little ziplock personal packs that are shipped to remote areas or to the hospitals.  Please make sure they are put in their own bag (separate from any food items).  On behalf of all deployed military and their families, thanks to all SEAS parishioners who are regular contributors to this project

New Pro-Love Ministry at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton

Embrace Grace

Embrace Grace is a ministry for single, pregnant, young women who find themselves in an unplanned pregnancy.  It allows the church to be a safe place for these girls to turn where they can feel welcome and supported and we will teach them about God’s abundant love and grace.  Embrace Grace is a 12-week program that allows these girls to begin to know God and his love for them and their babies and at the end we will give them a baby shower to honor them for choosing life and to help provide for their baby’s needs.  We also provide love and support for mothers who choose to bless a loving couple through the gift of adoption.  Our first semester will be held August 29-November 14.

To learn more about Embrace Grace visit www.embracegrace.com or contact group leader Claire Bissell at 798-1887, ext. 116 or cbissell@seasshreveport.com.  If you would like to be a part of the Embrace Grace Ministry, look for the Embrace Grace volunteer cards in the foyer and complete and return one and someone from the Embrace Grace team will contact you.  If you know someone who could benefit from Embrace Grace, please have them contact Claire Bissell so we can begin to love them and their precious babies!

 VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

*** The Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) has an urgent need of volunteers to take assistance calls from the Shreveport/Bossier community.  The task involves taking calls once or twice a month, either in the morning or afternoon.  Calls are forwarded to and answered at the volunteer’s home during the shift.  Requests are then sorted by area and referred to the appropriate SVdP Conference.  Volunteers take information from those in need, but are not expected to be counselors or to have extensive knowledge of available assistance.  The time required per shift is about 3 hours (2 hours taking calls and 1 hour referring).  Please call Carl Bigner at 865-5808 or Dorothy Jarzabek at 865-1024 if you can help with this critical ministry
