Sunday morning Adult Formation, 9:30 am in the Burleigh Center! The First Three Hundred Years of the Church: What Does it Mean to Be A Follower of Christ? When Christ ascended into heaven, his followers had to make their way in a world in which their leader had just been put to death, but with a clearly stated mission which included “Making Disciples of All Nations.” (Matt 28:18-20) What did they do? What did they believe their baptism into Christ meant for their lives and the lives of their communities? How did it shape the very beliefs and practices we hold 2000 years later? Join us as we explore the early developments in Christ’s Church, the persecutions and the triumphs of the early followers of Christ. This class begins September 10. For more info contact Michelle Brown at firstname.lastname@example.org
Deacon Jack Lynch will be offering a class on Catholic Church Apologetics beginning Tuesday, November 7, 6:30 pm and running for 7 weeks. The focus of the class will be the contributions the Church has made in building and establishing the Western Civilization. Some time will be spent exposing errant accusations leveled at the Church by her critics. The main book we will be using for the class is titled How the Catholic Church Built Western Civilization by Dr. Thomas Woods. It is available as a Kindle ebook for $1.13 on Amazon while the paperback runs around $15. Material from other sources will also be used to present a balanced perspective on the impact of Catholic thought and creativity on our Western culture.
