New Horizons: To Seek and Save the Lost

Last week’s first reading, taken from the Book of Sirach, was written 180 years before Jesus in Palestine.  Through the reading we reflected on the question, who is God?  The reading described a God who hears the cries of the poor and who quickly answers their cries.

Today’s first reading also helps us reflect on who God is.  This reading is taken from the Book of Wisdom, which was written in Alexandria, Egypt, about 100 years before the birth of Jesus.  This reading describes God as a God of majesty.
