Parish School of Religion K-4 thru 8th Grade

A priority for any parish is faith formation.  Here at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, our organized Sunday religious education program is referred to as Parish School of Religion or PSR.  Our Church uses the word "catechesis" (echoing God's word) to describe  such efforts to share our faith.  We hear God's Word in Scripture proclaimed at Mass each week.  This Word echoes in our hearts and experiences at home, work and school.  Catechists help us make explicit connections between these experiences and the teachings and traditions of our Church.

We offer PSR classes for children ages K-4 thru 8th grades on Sunday mornings from 9:30 until 10:45 AM.  An excellent slate of volunteer catechists guide the children through an approved curriculum.  Preparation for the Sacrament of First Holy Communion takes place during the 2nd grade year and preparation for Confirmation takes place in 7th and 8th grades.  We look forward to working with you as we work to "echo the word of God" in the lives of your children.

High School Monday Evening Meetings

High School Monday evening meetings are held from 6:30 until 8:00 in the 8th grade classroom.  This is an educational meeting that allows these youth to learn more about their Catholic faith.  Facilitator is Amy Dean.  For more information or to find out more about it, contact Amy at  [email protected] or 318-455-0606.

Children's Liturgy of the Word

Children's Liturgy of the Word is held during the 11:00 AM Mass.  This ministry is designed to help young children (older 3's through 2nd grade) to learn to listen, reflect and respond to God's Word.  Children are dismissed to the chapel where catechists share age appropriate versions of the readings and Gospel with them.  They then return to Mass to participate in the celebration of the Eucharist with the rest of the congregation.  If you enjoy working with little children and would be interested in volunteering for this special ministry, please contact Claire Bissell at 798-1887 to learn more.  Training will be provided.

LSUS Campus Ministry

If you are a student at LSUS, please forward your contact information to Claire Bissell at [email protected] so you can be added to our contact list.  Fr. Mark will be celebrating Mass monthly in Bronson Hall 336, on Wednesday morning at 11:00 am (during the common hour).  Lunch is always provided and faculty, students and the public are invited and encouraged to attend and bring a friend!  Upcoming masses are as follows:   January 22, February 26, March 18, and April 15.
