New COVID 19 Safety Procedures: Effectively Immediately

Bishop Malone has decreed the following safety procedures for our Diocese as we, by the grace of God and the wisdom of our medical and scientific communities, gain the upper hand on this Pandemic due to past safety measures:

  1. Face Masks/coverings are still recommended though no longer required.
  2. The sanitizing of hands upon entering and leaving Mass is still recommended though not required.
  3. Hand sanitizing before blessing oneself with Holy Water is recommended but not required.
  4. The Sign of Peace to be exchanged preferably by a bow. Physical touching and embraces are permitted respecting the safety concerns of the other person.
  5. The Offertory Gift Procession is to be restored.
  6. Social spacing is recommended but not required.
  7. The Pastor is to exercise prudence when allowing receptions and gatherings.
  8. The Dispensation from attending Mass ends on the Feast of Corpus Christi. Healthy persons are once again spiritually obligated to attend church in person beginning Saturday, June 5th.
  9. The sick and homebound are still exempt from attending Mass. Persons who are sick, experiencing fever, or any symptoms of any illness should not attend Mass.  This exemption also applies to those caring for the sick.
